Vancouver and the Lower Mainland

The Burrard Bridge in downtown Vancouver connects the downtown peninsula with the neighbourhood of Kitsilano. This classic art deco decorated bridge was constructed in the early 1930's as a Depression era 'make work' project.
The skyline of Vancouver continues to change as the city continues to grow at a rapid pace. As the Greater Vancouver area continues to grow, so to does its importance as a major Pacific port.
The West End of Vancouver is one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods in North America. High-rise apartment blocks give Vancouver its instantly recognizable skyline.
Only minutes from downtown Vancouver, Alouette Lake serves as a quick get away destination for the areas residents. Golden Ears Provincial Park is where this beautiful lake is found nestled in the mountains on the north side of the Fraser Valley.
The New Westminster Abbey sits on a hillside above the Fraser River city of Mission. Pastoral paths lead visitors around the monastery grounds and to a magnificent viewpoint overlooking the Fraser Valley.
