Nelson is a picturesque little town in the heart of the west Kootenays. Once the center of the silver mining industry, Nelson has now settled into an important tourist center and government administration center.

Denver on the shores of Slocan Lake, had dreams of becoming even
a bigger center than its namesake in Colorado USA. Now this sleepy
little village is home to some vivid reminders of the days of silver
booms and the new visions of a strong artist community.

Slocan
Lake in the west Kootenays is one of the provinces largest lakes.
On the western shores of this splendid lake, Valhalla Provincial
Park rises up the mountains.
