The Cariboo

Chasm Provincial Park in the South Cariboo. This pine tree covered canyon marks the southern entrance to the Cariboo plateau. Easy access off highway 97 makes this a spectacular spot to stop and rest awhile.
The mighty Faser River winds its way through the center of the Cariboo. The early explorers followed the river south to the coast, while the 1850's goldrush dreamers followed the river north to the goldfields around Barkerville.
Cottonwood House near Quesnel in the north Cariboo, is a standing reminder to the goldrush days. This historic landmark served as a vital roadhouse in the days of the Cariboo goldrush and the years to follow.
